I love Irene Dunne. She is beautiful, sings beautifully, and has a personality with and edge which you see in her movies. Here she is the young widow who is mayor of her small town after the death years before of her older husband. She lives with her father in law and step daughter and must travel to New York to interview a sculptor after lightning destroys the statue of her late husband. Boyer, the sculptor, follows her hom and tries to charm her. In the meantime, her teenage step-daughter finds him very attractive.
