Eddie Redmayne will probably win the Oscar for best actor in a year when another marvelous performance by a British actor has been given (Benedict Cumberbatch in another biography, The Imitation Game). We see Hawking early during his Doctoral studies at Cambridge and when he meets Jane who later becomes his wife despite the diagnosis of ALS and only two years to live. This diagnosis was made in 1963 and Hawking survives today at 72. His study of theories are about Time and the formation of the universe. He is perhaps the most famous scientist in the world although he has not, to date, won a Nobel Prize. Redmayne's performance is remarkable especially when you find out the movie was filmed out of sequence. Felicity Jones also is wonderful as Jane who despite her petite size is extremely strong and insists on marrying the then terminal doctoral candidate and caring for him and their three children. Yes, the answer to that question is hit on in the movie. It is a wonderful film and should be a big winner during Award Season. See it!

Best movie Rooster has seen so far this year. Knowing a lot about Hawking in advance helped me, but is not necessary. Redmayne is uncanny as the main character and should certainly get an Oscar nod. Rooster
