Chief Chick Comments

While somewhat sophisticated for 1935, it is not the best vehicle for either Grant or Hepburn. I prefer them both in Holiday or Philadelphia Story. At any rate, after her mother's death, Sylvia discovers her father has been gambling with money "borrowed" from his employer, a lace making firm. Sylvia reasons that if she cuts her hair and pretends to be a boy, they will be able to escape to London. On the boat, Henry, her father has a drink with Grant and tells him too many secrets. Grant tips off the authorities and Henry loses all upon arrival in England. Eventually, however, they hook up with Grant and a maid he knows to start a travelling vaudeville show. ok, but really a bit melodramatic!
