Thirty years after Luke, Han and Princess Leia subdued the Empire, the dark side of the Force has re-emerged. And the dark side has a new protagonist (antagonist?), a young, conflicted, black-hooded Kylo Ren. Luckily the intrepid trio of Han, Leia and Luke are still around. We see a good deal of Harrison Ford (Han Solo), who is excellent. But most of our attention is with two new powerhouses - Rey and Finn. Rey is the powerful female character, played superbly by Daisy Ridley, and Finn is the ex-Storm Trooper whose conscience makes him turn against Kylo Ren and the First Order. Action and plot twists are everywhere. A new droid needs to be rescued - how will Rey deliver it to the Resistance? Enter the mothballed Millennium Falcon! Han and Wookiee Chewbacca are caught by competing gangs who were cheated by Han. How will they escape? Rey struts her technical knowledge of the Millennium Falcon to save the day. It is all wonderfully believable. Entertaining but moreso for men and boys.
