This very French film evolves slowly as it examines some of the final years of Renoir at his home in Provence. A young woman, Andrée, becomes his nude model. When Renoir's second son, Jean, returns from the Great War to convalesce from a serious leg wound, he becomes interested in this mysterious, sensual woman. Renoir meanwhile is cared for by a staff of women. Because of serious arthritis, he must be carried to his studio and other spots to paint. His hands must be wrapped and bathed in warm water frequently in order for him to continue his passion or in his words his labor. About 25% of men will enjoy the slow, sensuous nature of the movie, but most will find it boring, I believe. It is French with English subtitles.
