Poirot is asked by a country gentleman to come and protect his son after he receives a threatening letter about an abduction. Poirot arrives with Hastings and his new, fast car to a grand home under repair and dependent on the rich wife for further repairs. Johnny is very young and it seems impossible especially with the assistance of Scotland Yard that he will be taken!
