A compulsive obsessive malcontent looking for a career or any job for that matter, discovers the world of "night crawling" where video operators scan police radios at night to get to crime scenes ASAP to tape anything from fires to accidents to assaults…before the authorities arrive. He descends farher and farther into immoral behavior in order to get exclusives on more and more gruesome crimes. Then he sells them to a news network, headed by Nina (jplayed by Rene Russo). Gyllenhaal is exceptionally creepy and lost purportedly 20 lbs for this role. The acting is very good. Not for the squeamish!
