Bruce Dern, playing a really old guy who is somewhat senile, is Woody who gets a magazine sweepstakes letter in the mail and is sure he has won a million dollars. He wants to travel from his home in Billings Montana to Lincoln Nebraska, home of the sweepstakes office. After several attempts at "walking" there, he son, David, agrees to drive him. Along the way, they stop in Hawthorne Nebraska, Woody's hometown and end up visiting a pack of relatively strange relations, some good-some not so nice. The twin cousins are a trip! Woody's wife and his older son decide to join the family reunion in Hawthorne as Woody starts running into old friends and acquaintances. While a bit slow at times, this film has a fun end to what is really about family and friends-some good; some bad.
