This autobiographical movie is set in the early 20th century. Marcel and his family have a small house in the hills of Provence. The young boy likes to visit, but the journey is very long because they must go around the edge of a very large estate. One day, Marcel's father meets a former student of his who shows them how to make their journey shorter by cutting through the estate. But every time they do, they are nervous at being caught.
