Chief Chick Comments

Well, apparently truth is stranger and often better than fiction as the trend for movies based on "true stories" continues( Railway Man, Philomena, Captain Phillips etc). JB is an independent sports agent who with a friend founded his own firm, but has just lost out on a contract with a star football player. As a last effort to save his career, he hits on the idea of going to India, holding a contest for cricket players to try to win 1 Million Dollars. Much of the movie takes place in India as JB and his team of an interpreter, major league scout, and local partner, travel around India holding tryouts. Eventually, two boys Rinku and Dinesh win and return to Los Angeles with JB. There the USC coach has agreed to coach the boys who actually know nothing about baseball although their interpreter does. The boys end up staying with JB at his fashionable LA home where JB's tenant, played by Lake Bell, an intern at a local hospital, realizes JB is not handling the two Indian players well. She befriends both the 3 Indian boys as well as JB as they aim for a major league tryout while trying to satisfy an investor who has put up the money for this enterprise. Slow in the middle but a solid movie.
