As I left the theater, 4 preteen boys behind me debated which runner they would like to be on the McFarland cross country team. This movie is for the whole family. Those boys probably didn't shed a tear, but I did. This true story reminds you that every kid deserves a chance and some good people will make sacrifices for them. Costner plays Coach White who after losing several jobs because of his temper, ends up in McFarland California which is a town of immigrant families who work the fields picking produce. When he realizes that they are not cut out for football, he decides to start a cross country team. Of course, there are unusual challenges. There are some surprises for the movie goer as well. Take the family!
