Take a date if he likes historical novels…especially tragedies. Emma leaves a school in a convent to marry a country doctor. She finds the life boring and interminable. When the local dry goods owner entices her with easy "credit" she accepts and heads down a path of excess both materially and personally. Beautiful costumes which I find hard to believe could have been available in any way in a poor village. Never-the-less, they are lovely and Wasikowska shows them off with great aplomb as she does by her portrayal. Available in selected theaters and On Demand this weekend.
