Mindy Kaling wrote and stars in this interesting movie about Katherine Newbury, a long running Late Night host who has lost her relevancy and is about to be replaced by the new studio head. She decides she wants a female writer and Molly Patel (Mindy Kaling) shows up first. Of course, she is out of place having just left a chemical plant where she did stand up over the loud speaker. However, her authenticity seems to work off and on. Thompson (Katherine Newbury) is a bit of a terror who has no life except this show and her now ailing husband played by John Lithgow. Funny parts, but a very good light drama which works. I liked it. Go see it before it leaves theaters!
