Nominated for Oscars(movie, Soars Roanan, Greta Gerwig-directing and writing and Laurie Metcalf), Ladybird shows a bit of the angst of growing up and wanting to fly on your own. Metcalfe plays Ladybird's mother and is tremendous probably reminding many of us of our well meaning mothers who never-the-less teed us off frequently. Tracy Letts is the father many of us would like to have. Ladybird's older brother(adopted) and his girlfriend live with the family and he has yet to use his education and leave his cafe service job. Ladybird becomes involved in the usual school plays and meets new friends and a boyfriend. The acting is spectacular especially Shoairse Ronan who seems very much a 17 year old.
