Chief Chick Comments

I put off watching this movie because I thought it would be uncomfortable. It was not, but I did have tears. Sean Penn, as usual, was fabulous and you cannot help loving Dakota Fanning and admiring Michelle Pfeiffer. Sam has a baby with a homeless woman who immediately disappears. He raises Lucy with some advice from his neighbor who cannot leave her home (played by Dianne Wiest) and help from his disabled friends who are fixated on movies. Sam loves the Beatles and knows all sorts of facts about the group. A small event at Lucy's birthday party causes the State to try to put Lucy in foster care. Eventually, Sam convinces Michelle Pfieffer, a successful but sad lawyer, to take his case. A very worthwhile movie.
