Chief Chick Comments

While parts of this story are fiction, there was a Margaret Stuckley (called Daisy by family) who was a 5th or 6th cousin of FDR's. When she died in the early 1990's, a cache of letters and writings from and about FDR were found under her bed. Bill Murray does a good job of portraying the mannerisms of FDR while not really looking that much like the President. The period design and decor rang true as does the absence of an army of Secret Service agents watching the President every second. I found the conversations between King George and Queen Elizabeth (parents of the current Queen Elizabeth) to be a bit "off". I also felt FDR's affairs were problematic-perhaps because in so many ways we idolize him and his leadership of our country in the last century. Enjoyed the movie, but you have to accept that many parts of the movie are creations of the screenwriter. This movie is billed as a comedy, but I think it is more of a drama with light moments
