Chief Chick Comments

This is a charming movie for all ages set in the 1920s/1930s. Winner of 5 Academy Awards for important Technical Aspects like Visual Effects. Hugo lives and hides in the Gare Montparnasse train Station in Paris in 1931. After his father was killed in a fire, Hugo was taken by his drunk uncle to help with winding the clocks at the station. When he Uncle disappeared, Hugo continued and began again to repair the automaton which his father had discovered in the museum attic. Eventually, he becomes involved with a cranky toy shoop owner and his goddaughter while the "cop" of the station tries to find and send him to an orphanage. Fascinating looks also at the beginning of motion pictures. A lovely "must see"
