This movie follows and interesting concept following to the extreme how a computer operating system with an appealing voice can evolve into a person who eventually demonstrates all of the characteristics a real life partner would exhibit. The movie is very good at portraying the not so distant future including home decor, familiar yet not entirely familiar clothing, and a few interesting devices. Joaquin Phoenix is quite good and not playing quite as aberrant person as he normally does. The movie, however, is much to long. The woman next to me briefly fell asleep 3 times. Scarlett Johansson is the OS voice and Amy Adams a neighbor and friend. Rooney Mara, looking as beautiful as we have seen her, plays his soon to be ex-wife. There is a certain serenity to the movie which is hard to explain except by the pace as well as the music. I recommend it, but alert you to the fact that it develops slowly. Do not go if you are tired!
