Another Coen Brothers farce/satire/comedy with a raft of stars George Clooney plays Baird Whitlock, the star of the blockbuster film, Hail Caesar!, who is kidnapped by communists intent on changing the face of capitalism. Josh Brolin is terrific as Eddie Mannix a top studio exec who is constantly fighting fires to keep his talent out of trouble in the days of the studio system. We see Scarlett Johansson, star of swim extravaganzas somewhat like Esther Williams, who has a small problem which threatens her career. Fairly interesting is Tilda Swinton who plays identical twins, both gossip columnists, who are in tough competition and threaten to "spill" a story about Baird Whitlock before the release of Hail Caesar. Fun but not a top Coen film.
