Chief Chick Comments

This movie, despite the dubious title, is very, very good. Written and directed by John Turturro who also stars, it tells the story of a middle aged unmarried man with a reserved quiet life but with a certain charm. His friend, Murray, is closing his Rare Book Store in New York and during a visit to his dermatologist, played by Sharon Stone, comes up with the idea to convince his friend to become a Don Juan with Murray being his "manager". Fioravante finally agrees and eventually is introduced to Avigal, the widow of a Rabii, who is very lonely although surrounded by her 6 children. Murray convinces her that Fioravante is a therapist and can help her relax. The two end up with a special relationship although the elders of her community are very suspicious. John Turturro attended my screening and told us that Woody Allen became involved when told of Turturro's idea by their mutual barber. Allen apparently critiqued the script in detail and the result, I believe, is spectacular!
