50 years old as of this writing. One of the best musicals every made starring luminous Vanessa Redgrave as well as beautifully cast Richard Harris who had to compete in a sense with Richard Burton who starred in Camelot on Broadway. This magical tale was further immortalized by Jackie Kennedy as she characterized her husband's short Presidency. It is enchanting. If you have not seen it lately, time for another look.
I agree with the Chief Chick. This is a wonderful movie. Although I found Richard Harris a very sympathetic King, I wonder how Richard Burton would have compared? A Fairy Tail with a sad ending. By the way, Vanessa Redgrave had a real life relationship with Franco Nero for many years, including having a son with him!!! They eventually married.
