This movie is very funny. Good for both you and your date. I am not a big Jack Black fan, but he is perfect and very funny in this movie which is based on a true story. At the end during the credits, you are shown the actual players. The expressions used by the local folks of Carthage seem just right and hilarious. Lots of laughing during the show. As usual Shirley MacLaine is also perfect in her role. Matthew McConaughey is the local District Attorney. I must say I did not recognize him until the second or third scene in which he appears. Well played also. Bernie, who is the assistant funeral director, is very popular. He adds extra touches to the funerals, sings in church, directs the local theater group, gives to those who need. In short the perfect guy. He befriends Mrs Nugent after her husband's death and ends up doing just about everything for her. After a while, it is almost too much to take... (only a couple of obscenities in the movie)
