This movie is a bit on the long side. Catherine Deneuve is still lovely in her mid sixties. Ludivine Sagnier plays Madeleine (Deneuve's character) at a younger age and is quite a charmer. Madeleine falls for and marries a Czech doctor in France for studies, but returns eventually to France with her young daughter, Vera. We flash forward and back and see Vera's dangerous love for a gay drummer who is slightly confused about his own sexuality. Vera is played by Chiara Mastroianni, Deneuve's real life daughter. This movie is for adults only and delves into a lot of issues. However, it has a light touch and features lots of singing by the actors. French with subtitles. Some English.
