Chief Chick Comments
One of the most famous Chick Flicks ever. Hillary and CC meet as 10 year olds and form a lifelong friendship despite their different backgrounds. CC, encouraged by her Mother played by Lainie Kazan, wants to be a child actress and singer. Hillary who meets CC when she is lost on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City, is from a wealthy San Francisco family. This Garry Marshall directed film is on most women's list of favorite "Chick Flicks" as it follows the two through their lives, successes and sadnesses. Mayim Bialik (The Big Bang) plays CC as a child and really does look like a young Bette Midler. Barbara Hershey is beautiful but sad in some ways even though she breaks out of her programmed life for a time. The music and Bette are fabulous and one is reminded why The Wind Beneath My Wings is so popular and a signature song for Bette. See it, but have your hankie ready!
