Wonder Woman starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine is setting records and I can see why. Directed by a woman, Patty Jenkins, it spins a tale of Diana the daughter of the Queen of the Amazons who live without men on a mysterious island. One day, Diana, sees an airplane crash near the island and although mystified, swims out to save the pilot (Chris Pine) who is actually an American spy working out of London in The Great War (WWI). Pine has information which may end the war but the Amazons do not want him to leave and reveal their existence. Diana whose heart is compassionate and who is the greatest Amazon of all agrees to help him stop the war. This movie is a WOW. Unlike the teenage boy fantasy films, we are not forced to watch unending fight scenes with strange creatures. Yet Wonder Woman(never called this during the film) is very powerful and the special effects very good. Acting is fine all around and even though a longer film, it is fascinating!

Not a movie that I found in my 'gotta see' list, but I was pleasantly surprised. Wonder Woman looks great (I was with a guy who joyously said "I want to date her!" Shoot, she looks fab!) Enough fight scenes, comic-strip dialogue (but didn't bother me in the full context of the movie), and decent acting for what it was. Don't go to see this movie if you want thought-provoking stimula, but overall an enjoyable, mindlessly entertaining movie.
