This movie will be a bit of a surprise. It is actually a war movie as much as the ordeal of a grieving father to find his sons' bodies and to bring them home to Australia for burial. After his wife's death, Connor leaves Australia and arrives in Turkey 3 months later where the Battle of Gallipoli was fought in 1915 and where his 3 sons perished. At the same time, the British are trying to locate , reclaim and bury all of their lost soldiers from this deadly battle. However, they are not willing to allow Connor into the area. Connor is a well digger, but more importantly a water diviner who often can sense the presence of water underground. Whether he can do the same with the bodies of his sons is another matter. Upon arrival in Turkey, a young boy leads him on a chase to a hotel run by his widowed mother. Connor rents a room and becomes close to the boy and possibly to the mother. He, however, must travel to the battle site where remarkably he is befriended by a Turkish general who is helping the British and who commanded the Turkish troops during the War. Many flashbacks and some current fighting (The General says the war has never ended for his people) remind you that this is a war movie. While I usually do not enjoy War movies, this one has a good story and some happy surprises. I recommend it. Great movie for a date night, I think.

I thought the Turkish General stole the movie. Also the actor playing the widow was unknown to me but she was very beautiful and very convincing. I was also more interested in the history of the Ottoman Empire having seen this movie.
