Chief Chick Comments

This is a gripping, true story of the 2009 events during which Somali pirates board the Maersk Alabama, a cargo ship, and eventually take Captain Rich Phillips as their hostage. While seemingly not a Chick Flick, the story is compelling of this brave, good man who does all he can to protect his crew and ship, and who is eventually rescued by Navy Seals. The movie is a bit on the long side, and during the lifeboat scenes, it is possible to get seasick while sitting in the audience. I advise looking away from time to time. Tom Hanks does another fantastic job and probably will be nominated for an Oscar. The Somalis who play the pirates are from Minneapolis and are very, very believable.
