Beasts Of the Southern Wild

Six Year Old, Hushpuppy, lives in the Gulf of Mexico with her father in a poor secluded area known as the Bathtub which is on the low side of the levee. When a storm floods the area, she must cope with displacement and the failing health of her father.

Six year old Quvenzhané Wallis is very good playing a determined, tough "Hushpuppy". The living conditions are spartan and filthy, but their small group of friends cherish their life and refuse to leave when a storm (Katrina?) leaves their world flooded. Hushpuppy imagines prehistoric beasts taking over their world and melting ice caps causing the flood. As her father's health fails, she must show she is strong. This movie is odd but still forceful.
