Hope you like Pink! Barbie is more delightful than you expect. It is very, very clever and Greta Gerwig has written and directed something special. Of course, Margot Robbie is perfect as the "Stereotypical Barbie" in Barbieland where almost every woman is named Barbie! By the way it is very inclusive-we even have a wheelchair Barbie. However, Stereotypical Barbie starts to experience some changes to her Perfect Life and has to consult Weird Barbie(Kate McKinnon) for help. An adventure ensues. I saw with women who were too old when Barbies came out. They loved it. Lots and lots of laughs. Have been told of men who liked it because of the different view it gives and because it is really funny!

I was a bit disappointed -- maybe because of all the hype. I like Lady Bird (Greta's other movie) a lot more. That being said, I laughed out loud a few times. I do not get the backlash comments I've read about it being man-hating. And some of the 20 something girls I've talked to actually cried --- I don't get that either. It's a movie about a doll, for heaven sakes. Margot Robbie is the perfect Stereotypical Barbie and Ryan Gosling played a great dumb Ken. My favorite part was watching him dance.

Kudos to Greta Gerwig, Margot Robbie, and in particular Ryan Gosling. He really gave 100% to play Ken as an unnecessary “accessory” (How many of us who had Barbies actually wanted to come down too? Not me!). Very clever script, great cinematography and sets. And some meaningful messages for the girls/women (and men!) who watch it. I plan to see it again.
