Chief Chick Comments

Do you like mud? neither to I but much mud is fully appropriate in this tale mostly from the end of World War II as two families try to survive on a poor farm in Marietta Mississippi. As each family welcomes home a member, one black and one white, trouble follows. The racism in this movie is disturbing in 2017 but probably not unusual in 1945. Mary J Blige is nominated for Best Supporting Actress. Carey Mulligan is very convincing as a town girl who now lives on a farm of mud. Gritty with excellent acting. Thank goodness for the ending!
